Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Dies at 50
Taylor Hawkins, the hard-hitting, charismatic drummer for Foo Fighters, has died at 50.
A statement posted to the band’s social media and sent by its representative confirmed the death, but did not provide a cause or location.
The band was scheduled to play a show Friday night in Bogotá, Colombia, at the Festival Estéreo Picnic.
Hawkins started to play drums at age 10, and said that a 1982 Queen show made him realize music was his passion.
“After that concert, I don’t think I slept for three days,” he said in a 2021 interview with the metal magazine Kerrang.
“It changed
everything
, and I was never the same because of it.
It was the beginning of my obsession with rock ’n’ roll, and I knew that I wanted to be in a huge rock band after seeing Queen.”
Hawkins married his wife, Alison, in 2005. She survives him, as do their three children, Oliver, Annabelle and Everleigh.
